NEW: Fraud counter
Every year students commit fraud. I always refer fraud to the Examination Committee. We have a fraud-resistant method for bring-your-own-device (BYOD) computer-based exams, but copying of other students's work or from the internet happens regularly. For your information, this is the current tally.- 2014 7NXB3: large group of students submitted same source code for compulsory (ungraded) homework. Sanction: annotation in student dossier.
- 2014 5KK03: student used Google during electronic exam. Sanction: not allowed to take the course for a year, and official annotation in student dossier.
- 2015 5EIA0: two students exchanged source code during electronic exam.
- 2015 5AIC0: source code for project copied from another student. Sanction: not allowed to take the course for a year, and official annotation in student dossier.
- 2016 5AIC0: report claims to have working project, which was not true. Output copied from other report. Sanction: Not allowed to take the course for a year; lost eligibility for cum laude degree; no longer nominal student; official annotation in student dossier.
- 2016 5AIC0: report contains x percent verbatim text, without citation, found on the internet. Sanction: Reduced grade by x percent.
- 2017 5EIA0: 9 students submitted identical code in homework, which was not allowed. Sanction: reduced grade of C end grade (30% of final grade) by 1.
- 2017 5AIC0: 8 students used almost identical code from previous years. Sanction: not allowed to take the course for a year, lost eligibility for cum laude degree, and official annotation in student dossier.
- 2018 5EIA0: One student caught in the second exam, five in the third exam, and two in the fifth exam. Sanctions range from failing the exam to failing the entire course this academic year. In all cases lost eligibility for cum laude degree and an got an official annotation in student dossier.
- 2018 5AIC0: several students copied programs from previous years. Sanctions ranging from a warning to failing the course for the entire academic year, losing eligibility for cum laude degree, and an an official annotation in student dossier.
- 2019 5EIA0: One student caught in the second exam, and three in the third exam. Twenty students caught for plagiarism.
